HVAC is lifeline

It’s hard to really put into words what it’s like experiencing my first really harsh winter.

Having grown up where the worst winter cold snap meant switching the HVAC heat pump from cool to heat, I was woefully unprepared.

For me, winter was something that I always looked forward to. After 4 months of intense summer heat that forced us inside the HVAC cooling to manage, winter was a sunny respite. Then this happened. I got a great job opportunity and took it without too much thought of how I would acclimate to such a harsh climate. It’s just so cold for so long. My first introduction to it was swift and brutal. I wasn’t in my new place but a few weeks before the cold winter winds started. I cranked up the HVAC for the first time in my life in early November. From there on, it has been a huge struggle with my only blessing being the HVAC furnace. Thankfully, as part of the home sale, this small house got a new furnace. It was the first time I had even seen one. But man, is it ever my very best friend. It does a great job of at least allowing me to feel warmth somewhere. The office HVAC is either set to high or not nearly warm enough. So, coming home to my cozy house with the HVAC setting just right is at least one thing I have going for me. I’m not sure how long I’ll last up here or if I’ll ever get accustomed to this sort of weather. But, I know that I am very thankful for the cozy comfort of the HVAC furnace.
