I make sure to take very good care of myself.
I eat a nutritious, well-balanced diet and avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and processed sugars. I drink lots of water and get a solid eight hours of sleep every night. Every morning, I devote an hour to a workout that includes stretching, strength training and cardio exercises. My dedication includes being conscientious and proactive about my skin. A monthly facial is a vital part of my routine. While I look forward to my facial appointment, it isn’t just for luxury. There is a long list of physical and mental health benefits. There are actually hundreds of various pressure points in the face. During a facial, those pressure points are massaged, which helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Afterward, I feel refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated. I am always in a much better mood. Facials also help to combat acne. Acne is the result of hair follicles that become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Although I don’t have a big problem with acne, I’ve noticed that my monthly treatment minimizes it. These facials are also great for protecting against the effects of local weather. I live in an area with very long, cold winter seasons. My skin gets extremely dry and moisturizing only does so much. My esthetician caters the products she uses during the facial to offset damage caused by wind, sun and insufficient humidity in the air. The facial massage further stimulates collagen growth which somewhat prevents the effects of aging. Because my skin is properly hydrated and protected, my face has a more youthful, glowing appearance.
